Packaging:

Maybelline BB stick comes in blue and pink twist up stick packaging, the colour combination being same as the Maybelline BB cream. The product information and ingredients list are mentioned on the plastic film that wraps the product. The bottom shows the shade name and the manufacturing date. The cap is made of fibre and the plastic used is of a good quality. The cap shuts with a click and is sturdy enough to carry in your hand bag. The stick is pretty small in size and very convenient to carry, you can easily slip in your hand bag or clutch purse and apply on the go.

Texture:

The texture of the stick is very smooth and applies easily on the skin. It blends like a dream with just fingertips and sets to a powder matte finish. It does not dry out the skin and sets immediately, demanding you to blend fast. The stick provides medium coverage and hides minor skin imperfections like blemishes and pores pretty well.

My Experience:

 I’m not much of a BB cream person and honestly speaking I don’t own a single BB cream. I have never purchased a single product and after this experience it unlikely that I will ever purchase a BB product in whatever shape or form it may come. The concept of BB cream never seemed to fascinate me. I still prefer applying my tinted sunscreen Lotus Herbals Safe Sun 3 in 1 matte look daily sunblock than going out with a BB cream applied on. I don’t like anything that gives an artificial look to my face, and I seldom apply foundation on my face. I just apply sunscreen, dab a compact or sometimes skip that too and step out of the house.  But after reading positive reviews about this product, I decided to try this. I was expecting a lot from it but did not find anything extra ordinary about it.

The texture of this BB cream is amazing to work with. It spreads like a dream and does a pretty good job of hiding minor imperfection and reducing the appearance of visible pores perhaps because of the Salicylic acid present in the BB stick which helps to clear away the minor pores and imperfection. It also contains mineral clay that helps to control shine. It also works well to cover under eye dark circles and can also be used as an eye shadow base.

 It’s really good for people who do not heavy coverage and are not fond of foundation and just want to hide minor flaws of their face. The stick blends really very well. It gives a smooth matte finish and provides an even coverage to the skin. I got the shade Fawn and it suits my skin completely. It looks a bit dark in the tube, but looks perfect on blending. The texture is powdery and you can feel it when you swipe it across you face. It does not look artificial and leaves no whitish cast. Despite the BB factor, it does not feel heavy or thick at all and rightly gives powder light feel. It even out my skin effortlessly and can also be built so you can safely skip a concealer. The BB stick does not fade at all and stays put until you wash you face with a proper cleanser. Just plain water splashing will also not remove it completely.

Now coming to the shine control claim of the product. I have a combination skin with an oily T zone. My skin becomes too oily during summers and too dry during winters. The product claims a 12 hour shine control which sadly is not true.  It keeps my face shine free for not more than an hour even and for max 2 hours when I set with my Maybelline Compact. That too at room temperature. Outdoor it doesn’t last even an hour on me and feels grimy after a while. The BB stick is also transferable. I had a good 20 minutes chat on phone with this applied on and not only did it  transfer to the phone but also left that particular portion of the face oily and patchy. After 2 hours I could see not just an oil T zone but also oily cheeks and forehead. In short, my entire face was sweating. So the third claim that it controls sweat is also not true. As for the brightness claim, it imparts a subtle glow to my face which I quite like it. Another con of this product is availability of shades. It is available in just 2 shades, Radiance for fair Skin tone and Fawn for medium to dusky skin tone. I think they should introduce a few more shades for dark skinned beauties.

To cut the long story short, some of the claims made by Maybelline about this product like shine control and sweat resistant are more a product description than rightful benefits. It’s not out and out dud product. I just love its texture and the coverage it provides. But its oil control formula disappoints me.

I would give this product 3.5 on 5.
