Lakme Insta-Liner

Lakme is a well known cosmetic brand which needs no introduction. It has been here for ages and is one of India’s oldest cosmetic companies. We often associate our oldest and fondest makeup memories with this brand. Lakme Insta Liner is one of the first liners used by most of us, me being no exception.
What the company claims about the product:
Light weight and comfortable eye make-up for perfect definition.

How it works:
  • Water-resistant formula ensures no smudging or smearing.
  • Deep intense color that does not fade.
Price:
Rs 80 for 4.5 ml.
Shelf Life:
30 months.

Ingredients:
Not mentioned.
Packaging:
Lakme Insta Liner comes in a sturdy glass bottle, which is quite similar to their nail paints, with a screw cap that contains the brush. The brush is very thin and has hairy bristles. The applicator is of medium length which provides a good grip and enables you to draw very thin lines too. People who are not used to liquid liner might find it a bit difficult to work with this applicator. The super fine brush does not retain too much liquid on to it so you would need to dip the liner more than once to complete the application. I would suggest you all to use a separate eye liner brush with this liner. The application would be much easier then.

Texture:
The texture of this liner is runny, as you would expect from a liquid liner. The liner looks glossy in the bottle but gives a semi matte finish when it dries. The colour is not the blackest black but is quite a dark black and gives a nice sheen effect.

My Experience:
Lakme Insta liner is one of the cheapest and best liners available in Indian market. The liner stays on without smudging or bleeding even in a humid weather. The liner is water resistant so it does not come off because of sebum produces by the eye lid. Since the liner is water resistant and not water proof, it can be washed off easily with water or with a makeup remover but it tends to leave the entire area black when removed and gives you raccoon eyes.
The liner takes a pretty long time long time to dry which I simply hate. So you will need to sit under the fan for it to dry completely. The liner stings badly if it gets into the eyes and leaves with watery red eyes so you need to be careful while applying the liner. A single stroke gives an opaque colour which however can be intensified with two strokes. The staying power of this liner is extremely good. It stays for a 12+ hours on me without any smudging ,peeling, or chipping.
The liner is extremely economical and is a complete value for money. Apart from one or two cons, I couldn’t find any other con with this product. Lakme needs to do something about the applicator. The one which I got splits and does not give proper application.
Summing up the pros and cons:
Pros:
Extremely affordable. Costs less than a KFC Zinger Burger :P
A single bottle will last for months.
A good staying power.
Gives a nice semi matte finish.
Cons:
Takes ages to dry.
Leaves the eye area black when removed.
Does not give a jet black colour.
Adios.
