NYX Round Lip Gloss Frosted Red

NYX is a popular and affordable make up brand which most of us are familiar with. Sadly NYX products are not available in India and can be only bought through NYX online shop or cherryculture.com. Some Indian shopping sites do sock them but charge almost twice as much as the original price. The product which I will review if NYX Round Lip Gloss in Frosted Red.

What the company claims about the product:

NYX round lip gloss has 36 pretty shades to highlight the sexy pucker of the lips. Feels silky smooth, long lasting and the colour in the bottle is the color on the colour on lips. A must have for all sexy girls.

Price:

Rs 450 in India.

Packaging:

The gloss comes in see through round tube with a black cap. The brand’s name and some cute patterns are embossed on the tube while the shade name is pasted on a label at the top of the cap. The gloss comes with an angled wand/ applicator which give a precise application and an even finish.

Texture:

The consistency of this gloss is a bit runny and thin which makes it easy to spread on the lips. The formula of this gloss in non sticky and is quite comfortable to wear. The gloss is quite light weight and does not feel heavy on the lips. The gloss is not very pigmented so a minimum of 2 to 3 coats is required to cover pigmented lips. It contains golden shimmer but not chunks of glitter to give a gritty feel to the lips. It smells like lemon to me which does not bother me at all. The smell is not very strong and vanishes soon after application.

Shade:

The colour frosted red is sheer red lip gloss with tiny shimmers in it which adds a great shine when applied on its own or over a lipstick without being too obvious . It is a pretty coral red which would look flattering on almost everyone. The colour you swatch on your hand is nowhere close to the colour that come on the lips. So this gloss is a strict no no for pigmented lips. The shade is best for days when you want to add just a hint of colour to the lips.

Staying power:

The staying power of the gloss is average. It wears for about 1 hour on me and fades evenly leaving some shimmer behind. It wont even last this long if you purse your lips too much or if you have meals in between. It might stay longer if used on top of a lipstick. In fact I wear this gloss on top of a lipstick as I do not like this gloss much.

Final verdict:

Frosted red is a pretty shade which would suit a variety of skin tone, but how I wish it was more pigmented and shimmer less. I would give it a 3 on 5..
